The State Street Lofts

Buffalo Engineering provided MEP engineering services for the $16 million renovation of the former 64,000 SF Market Basket warehouse into an affordable housing complex. The redevelopment created a total of 46 new apartments, consisting of 22 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom units, including 14 units with supportive services and 5 units that are fully accessible.

The exterior façade of the building remained relatively unchanged, while the interior underwent major renovations. A section of the existing warehouse was removed to provide additional natural light for interior units. Each apartment features energy-efficient appliances and water-saving plumbing fixtures.

Common areas within the building include a lobby, community room with a kitchen, computer lab, fitness center, bulk storage, trash and laundry facilities, and an exterior playground area.
