Project Overview

Buffalo Engineering provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for multiple projects at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus.

Governors Complex Heating System Upgrades (Phases I & II): Assessment of the existing electric heat convector system serving the Governors Complex, which houses approximately 800 students across Clinton, Dewey, Lehman, and Roosevelt residence halls, followed by phased replacement of electric heating units. Phase I included replacement of 107 existing heaters on the first floor of all four residence halls. Phase II included replacement of 160 existing electric heat convector units on the sUniversity at Buffalo | Buffalo, NY

econd and third floors of Dewey and Roosevelt Halls, including coordination for abatement of asbestos-containing wiring. Design services incorporated replacement units of similar design and capacity, reuse of existing power circuitry and building management system (BMS) controls, and new wall and support structures, ensuring continuity of operations and minimal disruption to student housing.

Football Locker Room Upgrades: Mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services including updates to showers, toilets, sinks and supporting spaces; extensions to the existing fire alarm system with code-compliant detection and annunciation; new lighting controls; upgraded power systems and circuits; new plumbing fixtures; and mechanical design to ensure proper air movement and ventilation.

Emergency Generator: Mechanical design and electrical engineering services to support installation of an emergency generator, including HVAC design coordination, design of an electric unit heater for space heating, and provision of combustion air and radiator discharge through an exterior louver.
