Location

Orchard Park, NY

Estimated Construction Cost

$3.8 million

Project Overview

Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas engineering design and construction administration for a $3.8 million renovation and conversion of a former restaurant in Orchard Park into a surgical center with two Class B operating rooms, offices, and general ophthalmology services. The 16,451 GSF project included renovation of the existing building and construction of a 15,900 SF surgery addition, designed within budget constraints to meet FGI and DOH guidelines. Emergency distribution separated life safety, critical, and equipment standby loads per NFPA and NEC requirements.

The addition includes pre/post-surgery recovery rooms, operating suites, decontamination, sterilization, sterile storage, deliveries, sub-sterile corridors, and oxygen and anesthesia rooms. The existing building houses examination rooms, offices, waiting rooms, and medical office space. Post-construction temperature control issues in sterilization rooms and surgical suites were addressed through close coordination with the project team, contractors, and equipment manufacturers. Services were provided as a subconsultant to Silvestri Architects.

Richardson Olmsted Complex building with two central towers and modern glass entrance, surrounded by trees and lampposts.
