Niagara University – Dunleavy Hall Nursing Simulation Center

Location

Niagara University, NY

Estimated Construction Cost

$1.5 million

Project Overview

Buffalo Engineering provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing design and construction administration services for the Dunleavy Hall Nursing Simulation Center, a new $1.5 million, state-of-the-art teaching center with three simulation suites, med lab, control room, utility room and storage. A connected debriefing/conference room with closed circuit capabilities allows students and faculty members to watch simulated procedures and scenarios in real time.

Included among the center's technological upgrades is a “Sim ManEssential Bleeding,” the type of computerized manikin used for scenario-based simulations at medical schools. The center also features the Pyxis MedStation, the same electronic medical dispensing system used in hospitals.

Electrical systems included power, lighting, new fire alarm devices and door access system card readers. Mechanical headwall simulation units were installed in the three suites and included simulation system cameras and ceiling mounted microphones. Mechanical work included terminal units and air devices.
