Niagara Arts and Cultural Center

Location

Niagara Falls, NY

Project Overview

The Niagara Arts and Cultural Center (NACC) is a not-for-profit arts and cultural organization located in the former Niagara Falls High School building. Buffalo Engineering performed a review of the building’s HVAC, power, lighting, fire alarm, sanitary, domestic water and plumbing systems. Recommendations were provided as part of a Building Condition Survey. The intent of the project was to determine what improvements were necessary to bring the auditorium and adjacent toilet rooms into compliance with the NYS Building Code and to provide a level of comfort for users of the space. Design development-level plans are complete. The NACC, which houses rentable art studios, community use facilities, galleries, theaters, a certified sound stage, and movie production facility, is considered a model for historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
