Project Overview

Buffalo Engineering provided the electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the $20.3 million revitalization of a vacant parcel on Genesee Street.  This affordable and supportive housing development was designed to provide safe, sustainable, and community-focused living in East Buffalo. The project features 59 apartments, including 18 units designated for individuals in need of supportive services to live independently.

Mount Aaron Village consists of a three-story building with 43 apartments, 4,000 square feet of commercial space and three townhouse-style buildings with a total of 16 apartments. Eighteen apartments are reserved for individuals experiencing homelessness who will receive rental subsidies and supportive services funded through the Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative and administered by the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports.

Residential amenities include a community room with a kitchen, laundry facilities, and an outdoor playground.

Designed for energy efficiency and sustainability, Mount Aaron Village meets the standards of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Low-Rise New Construction Program and Enterprise Green Communities. The development incorporates Energy Star-rated appliances, high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, and LED lighting to promote long-term energy savings and environmental responsibility.
