Lake Mariner Data Center Campus

Location

Somerset, New York

Project Overview

Buffalo Engineering is serving as Engineer of Record teaming MLP and Danforth, for the Lake Mariner Data Center Campus, a transformative design-build project. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Somerset, New York, this cutting-edge data center development repurposes a former coal-fired power plant site into a high-capacity, low-emission digital infrastructure hub.

The campus will ultimately feature at least four state-of-the-art data center buildings, each with dedicated chilled water cooling plants. Buffalo Engineering is consulting on the chilled water plant design and providing full HVAC design services for the offices, mechanical and electrical rooms, and support buildings for each data center. Key plant capacities include:

  • First Data Center Chilled Water Plant: 6,000 tons
  • Second and Third Data Center Chiller Plants: 16,000 tons each

Lake Mariner Data is a leading example of sustainable redevelopment, leveraging approximately 91% zero-carbon energy, primarily sourced from regional hydroelectric generation. When fully complete, the campus will deliver over 500 MW of computing capacity, positioning it as a major contributor to the digital economy while advancing the energy transition in Western New York.
