Project Overview

Buffalo Engineering provided engineering design for an addition and renovations to the Hennepin Park Community Center. The two-story, 16,000 SF addition is equally divided between a youth facility and a senior center and includes recreation rooms, kitchens, day care, classrooms, a computer room, an exercise room for seniors, meeting and conference rooms, staff offices, and storage. Renovations encompassed two gymnasiums, a weight room, locker rooms, restrooms, and offices.

Our scope of work included high-efficiency boiler and HVAC upgrades, plumbing and electrical systems, a new ADA-compliant fire protection system, locker room and toilet room design for ADA compliance, and upgraded phone systems.

A subsequent project involved design of a new VAV HVAC system as part of roof replacements above the small gym and boxing gym. Mechanical work included replacing two existing 15-ton and two existing 10-ton packaged HVAC units on the community center roof with new units of similar capacity and installing 23 variable air volume (VAV) terminal units in the existing branch ductwork.
