Buffalo Fire Department Engine 25

Location
Buffalo, NY
Project Overview
Buffalo Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for the new two-story fire station located at Seneca Street and Southside Parkway for the City of Buffalo Fire Department.
The new firehouse features a one-story garage and apparatus room with four large, drive-through bays and overhead doors. It includes modern living quarters designed to accommodate a 24-hour workforce, training areas, and a fitness center. The facility’s layout ensures firefighters can quickly and safely access their apparatus, leading to improved response times. The new facility has accommodations for additional female firefighters, including private co-ed bathrooms, and private bunk rooms, which will allow the Fire Department to adapt seamlessly to a higher volume of female firefighters.
Energy efficiency and safety enhancements are incorporated throughout the station, including LED lighting, decontamination zones, and isolated gear-washing space to prevent the spread of harmful carcinogens. Separate ventilation systems for living areas and equipment storage, decontamination showers for crews, and dedicated equipment decontamination areas further enhance firefighter safety. A backup power generator ensures uninterrupted emergency response services during power outages.
